A lesser known facet of Gary Owens' multi-faceted career was that he was a cartoonist. Back in '93 I was drawing the Ren and Stimpy comic books for Marvel, and Gary was appearing on the cartoon show as Powdered Toast Man. I gave Gary the original of the the first comic book page featuring PTM, and Gary retaliated by making me this drawing.

Okay, afterlife: sock it to him. *bows head solemnly*
Seriously, I'm really glad for this tribute. He gave so much to all the animation fandoms. And I still quote his Space Ghost Coast to Coast appearance at least once a month. :D

Awww, he died 12-Feb-2015.
I've always been fascinated by famous announcers, such as
- Don Pardo (Sat Night Live, The Price Is Right, Jeopardy!)
- George Watt Fenneman (You Bet Your Life with Groucho)
- Harlow Wilcox (Fibber McGee and Molly)
I still dream of someday achieving what Clyde Adler did
(puppeteer to Soupy Sales)

Googling a little further:
Ed McMahon: an essential ingredient to the classic Tonight Show with Johnny Carson
Andy Richter: Conan O'Brien's counterpart
Howard Cosell: I used to deliver newspapers to his mom, but never met him.
Phil Rizzuto: the playground where I grew up in Queens in named "Holy Cow Playground". The ballpark down the street from me in Elizabeth NJ is "Phil Rizzuto park".
Gene Rayburn (most famous as TV game show host: Match Game)
