i love any chance to flesh out my races Dryxillian culture.

a few things here i wanted to say, so you can really appreciate the picture.
in Dryxillian culture, it is only socialy acceptable to bear your tail fins (upper or lower) in a few occasions.
if its mating season
if you are in your own home
or if you are at the bathhouses
or in this case here, if you are fighting with another male. the fins are seen as a masculine/dominance/sexual thing.
so for a fight, they would of course remove the fin coverings of their To'get garbs.
you can also notice that their tail ends look differently. the fins retract and fold under the tail flippers for a fast strike. while the other tail is flayed out wide in a defensive or distracting position. this makes it function like a sheild. the skin on the fins are actualy very durable and strechy so they can take a fair amount of jabbing.
their stingers are VERY venemous, to another dryxilate it is painful and numbing, but rarely fatal unless they take repeated stabs. to a non dryxilate though its almost always deadly. the recipient can die in minutes if they dont get an antivenom right away.
for sparring purposes they might wear a Silk over their tail ends. this is like a metal "gauntlet". for blocking venom purposes there is the pointed end, for non lethal sparring they would use a balltip similar to a rapiers end.
when a duel is initiated, there are 3 outcomes usualy.
1- there is a winner and the loser dies
2- there is a winner because the other one was cowardly and ran away
3- there is a winner, and he permits the looser to keep his life.
in the last case, the loser owes a life debt to the winner, and is indentured to the winner for a year.
most would preffer death, as male honor is of a HUGE cultural importance. but some winners will preffer to spare for personal reasons, they may know the opponent personally, or their significant other/woman they wish to charm wishes them not to take his life.
