A thousand years ago, existed a changeling hive in the north by the Crystal Empire. They lived in the shadows, and did so peacefully. They only ventured out to make friends to gather food from the crystal ponys to feed the hive. Then Sombra came and they were discovered. The hive was destroyed, but not before the hives princess's were sent out to search for a land to make a new hive. Icicle, being one of those princesses, fell to a storm and was frozen in ice for a thousand years till she was discovered by a pegasus tending ro the northern weathers.

Side note: Icicle beleives Queen Chrysalis is to be a desendent of one of the other princess's and an example of what happens when a hive becomes corrupt and steals love from ponys instead of befriending them.
