Still waiting on photos from others to do similar composites of their suits as a trade. Figured I'd practice and do one of me.

The guy I saw was only indoors as it was a personal video from a convention on somebody's blog. He could walk just fine, but his hind legs would try to tip over whenever he tried to turn. The person I assumed to be his handler was following behind him and holding his back end up by the tail, but is wasn't helping much. I would post a link to the video, but the site it was on was closed down and I can't find it on youtube.
Ahh hmm. This is my furiend Vulpix in full taursuit: http://youtu.be/j35sryA_i2k
That's pretty cool. :P
The one I saw had a PVC skeleton and a wooden spine plate, which was probably why it kept falling over.
If I remember correctly, the left leg controlled the right hind leg and vice-versa, which made it move really well.
Also, aside from falling over allot, the hind section was really long, because the legs were skinny. So whenever he turned, the back end swung around.

I saw this costume at an SF convention (Lonestarcon 3, in San Antonio, TX, in 2013), of a woman as a centaur.
Her costume worked well from what I saw of it, although I was rushed at the time and didn't get to see it in detail. I wonder if a similar design fursuit might be possible?
And if that's possible, what about adding smaller wheels in the feet themselves, rather than the one bigger wheel?
Pictures I found on the web: http://ww2.hdnux.com/photos/23/35/4...../5/622x350.jpg
I haven't been able to find a video of her walking. I didn't see her on uneven ground, just in the convention center.

Wow :) Just amazing... thought it was real for a sec... then I found out it wasn't and my fragile dream shattered...
Oh what I would give for this to be real *hugs*
Awesome work on the photoshop assembly though, that must have taken you a while to complete and get right. Seamless... amazing!

Great job with Photoshop ^^
I have been looking in to the mechanics of actual building a suit like that that can walk with ease and have the ability the adjust its rear weight to the wearers movements. (looking at using some "advanced" and not so advanced electronics to sense and tell the wearer whats going on back there) (so much work to get it to work, I have nothing past paper yet sadly)

SUPER short body though, but the concept/idea works

That would be really cool to have one done up of my Beast Cub suit of Baron Von Fox. Here a link to the Baron. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6262544/
http://youtu.be/_u1IbFNP7Ek I dunno if this would help at all, bit it does kinda show the mechanics of a taur costume's back half
You would have to make the whole upper torso out of hollowed out foam, It should be light enough then, and with the slope of the back where it meets the shoulders of the lower half, you could run a cable of some sort to help support and steady the upper half and attach it to like a belt harness.
There is a four legged robot that looks / walks like a four legged animal, but I think is gas powered, that would probably eventually be used for the military or rescue. To make one that would be electrical with an ob board battery power supply would of course be better, than having some gas powered motor sputtering off. It's also possible that the mechanics of the robot are a little noisy, like it uses pneumatic air pressure mechanics, something like that for a taur suit would probably be too noisy, something more electrical with alternating current motor mechanics would be better, more quiet. : )
