I'm lost at part 2

how do I sketch good

I know this post of yours is super old, but this is my first time seeing it. Was the entire process all one 1 layer?

Yes, i drew it on 1 layer. You can use as many layers as you want.
You can put the coloured background on a seperate layer and the sketch on another layer. And on a layer above the sketch you can do the shading. Whenever you feel insecure add a layer on top and draw. But don't get confused by a load of layers.
The reason you keep the layer count small is because it is easy to get confused if you dont name the layers properly. And keep less layers will keep the memory usage low and the file will be smaller aswell!

Yeah, I've learned to always name all my layers to keep track of what they are. I also tend to group them in folders, like 1 folder for sketch, 1 folder for ink lines, and 1 for color layers.
