Perhaps, but Nino has never had any knowledge of such a thing as willing prey, and the fact that he's given in that quickly is meant to show that he is ready to (even reluctantly) accept the circumstances as a new experience, even if he has eaten something whole and alive before (the rat). In this situation, he has made an exception to his principles, which are honestly already skewed with his natural role as a predator and hunter.
