I could still recall what it felt to come out to that plane to the cool salty breeze of that winter day when I arrived to my two-week-long vacation at Copenhagen. Lucky me I had chosen precisely the warmest weeks on the forecast to come visit my friend Katelyn; being accustomed to temperatures above freezing during the most part of the cold season has always been something I took for granted. And at that time I had been afraid I would spend my days shivering and under the warmth of my blankets due to the harsh weather. But as soon as I poked my head out of the steel doorframe and started to head towards the cart that would eventually lead me to the baggage claim at the airport in the capital city of Denmark, I had a feeling the weather was not the only thing that would welcome me to this country in such a kind way!
After I recovered my luggage, composed mostly by thick sweaters and insulating coats, I headed down the aisle and into the Arrivals, where sure enough, the fuzzy cat from the pictures was holding a danish pastry in one hand and a sign with my name in the other. More often than not, I see my flashy feathers as a hindrance more than an advantageous trait, but today was not the case, since as soon as I came into view and despite the crowd, the large pretty eyes, mismatched in color but equally captivating, followed me as I made my way bumping and pushing against other furs to get to greet my overseas friend.
Once I reached her, we exchanged a hug and she gave me the sweet, delicious-looking danish, assuring me that she had already eaten something on her way to the airport, and that I could use a treat before we got home. I was happy to oblige, of course! I came to Denmark to enjoy my vacations to their fullest!
And so the first week went by almost in the blink of an eye, visiting everything the city has to offer the tourists. Everything from museums to parks, and from buildings to fields was even more magnificent than what I saw in pictures before I came. It all looked as if it was constantly being set to look just perfect: every twig bent in the right angle, every brick placed with utmost care and every hue of color matched under the direction of the most experienced artist. I simply could not get enough of the danish culture. The lively music, the orderly lifestyle, the welcoming citizens but most importantly, the astonishing food! Not only have I visited the best of the best when talking about restaurants and diners in the city, but I had also been offered the traditional dishes and culinary delicacies prepared by Katelyn and her mate with their own paws! I have to say they are excellent cooks and, well, we all know that it is impolite to refuse a second helping... or a third, or a fourth for that matter.
But I am far from worried about it... As I said before, I came here to enjoy what danish life is like and to relax from my stressful schedule back home. And if that means putting on a couple of pounds, so be it! I won't let a small potbelly get in the way of me taking advantage of this unique experience!
I look at the mirror with determination but not entirely convinced... If this trend keeps going, by the end of my vacations I won't fit any of the jeans I brought from home... or even worse, the plane door! I give my midsection a gentle prod right where the scaly sagging roll of flab is spilling over my way-too-tight waistline, only partly contained by my belt which each day has had to be adjusted one notch looser. The button-up shirt I chose is unable to cover my abdomen, with the buttons being strained as they pull the textile skin-tight against my body... And the color doesn't help to deviate the attention from the fact that with that hue of pink my arms look more and more like over-stuffed sausages. And what was that I just saw? Was it a double... no, a triple chin?
"Perhaps I should reduce my portio..."
From the kitchen, the pudgy kitty called my name, with the same alluring European accent she always uses when talking a foreign language. Breakfast was ready. I could tell from the scents wafting their way to my nose that it was not a light one, just the way the other ones have been so far... I pressed the doughy mass of adipose tissue that had formed as a reminder of all those pleasurable meals and every happy experience. Why should I give that up? I had earned this right!
"Great, Katelyn, I'll be there in a minute... I hope you made enough; I'm starving!"
And if my feline host likes chinkier visitors, who am I to go against the rules of her house?
Better make sure to reserve two seats for my return home... This dragon won't be fitting in one of those skinny-people seats after such a rounding experience!

katelynkitten since she was my 400th watcher. Yaaaay!! She told me I could do anything, so I thought why not pay her a visit? I have bever been to Europe IRL, so don't ask for too much detail in the story... Sorry for that.
Pretty much a simple flat colored pic... I tried to make a background, but I failed miserably and opted to use an image I found on The Internet. It took me long enough to finish up this pic (more than a month) to delay it even further by adding a decent background. I promise I'll put some more effort into the next pics I do.
And that's about it... I hope you like what you see and the small story I added up on the very last minute...
And thanks again to all of my watchers who have mad this possible: from the loyal first ones to the enthusiastic +400th's this feathery oversized lizard thanks you personally. See you at the 500 milestone!
