Art's not just one of my outlets. Astronomy is another avocation, and has been for years. I've had a commercial telescope specifically for astrophotography, but last night was the first time (since my roll film camera died) that I've used it for imaging.
Borrowing a camera from our astronomy club's observatory, I took this image of the Orion Nebula (M42) last night.
I will admit the focus could be better, but I needed a "Pick-Off" mirror system to see the target stars, that didn't show up in the camera's screen. This and my crummy eyesight, left the stars close to focus.
Data:
Telescope Aperture - 8 inch.
Telescope Focal Length - 80 inches (2032 mm).
Camera - CANON D20
ISO (ASA for you gray muzzles) - 1600
Exposure - 30 seconds
