Well, it looks like good illustration and coloring to me.
Seriously, I find some of your "relaxed" material as compelling as the polished stuff -- perhaps more. There's emotion, movement, 'oomph' in something like this. Whereas some of your most polished pieces are technically impeccable -- a geek's dream -- but they lack a spark. Sometimes perhaps the life in your pieces is compromised in the pursuit of technical perfection.
(I thought the same about you're "5 stages" cartoon, which you dismissed as something tossed off and silly. Well, I think you should do more toss-offs. Because they're actually really good.)
