kensingshow as "Blair", my role model of high class snobbiness in "The Facts of Life". Hawaiian shirts and big, bushy moustaches were in, not to mention everyone's fixation with red Ferarri 308 GTS sports cars as "Magnum P.I." stole everyone's hearts.... well at least the women's. Spring storms flooded some parts of Huntington, Sunset Beach and PCH under up to 2 feet of sea water. Some movie opened with hunky Harrison Ford that did not do well, called "Blade Runner", but everyone went to go see a movie about some ugly little alien that eats "Reese's Pieces", much to the financial dismay of M&M that didn't want some slimy creature associated with their candy. The World's Fair opens in Knoxville, TN, and during that event, FedEx appologises for a lost package that may have "fallen out of a delivery truck" and was radioactive, but never recovered. But at best, Larry Walters uses 45 helium balloons and a lawnchair and immediately sets himself into the history books. And for those who are following Ken Singshow's Andorozon! might appreciate this, Time magazine's "Man of the Year" was for the first time given to a non-human; the personal computer! Next up, Rokki!
With that, although my favorite Duran Duran song is "Last Chance on the Stairway", I can't find a good video of it on YouTube. I had many favorite songs from Duran Duran, and was not so affectionately known as a "Durannie" for the Taylor boys, but here is one, a classic from the 1982 "Rio" album, with a cover that put Patrick Nagel on the world map. Enjoy the soothing tunes from a Sri Lankian paradise...
