I've had this image in my head for a while, and I finally got it out. It's something that makes sense in my head... at least.
Despite the "grim" imagery behind it (them being hung), it has somewhat of a positive idea behind it, the idea of someone being so dedicated to another... the idea of loyalty.
Yeah... really not sure what exactly inspired this. Maybe its just the result of a friendship that I've been thinking about lately... wondering what the hell is going on (for those of you on here who actually know me in real life, it doesn't have anything to do with you, in case you're wondering.)
Eh... I dunno.
It was actually a little difficult to think of what Reynard was to say. I wanted him to say something clearly expressing dedication (obviously), but not something that was painfully cheesy (because having nooses around their necks wouldn't negate that enough. :B)
As always, looks better in real life.

Thanks.
The black and white is part homage to Spy vs. Spy (a comic strip that did influence me a lot) and part simple evolution.
When I first drew Reynard and Edgar, the looked almost identical. To give them more distinguishing characteristics, I gave Reynard more black markings and clothing, and Edgar more white markings and clothing. I noticed this and then just went to the extreme with it.
And yes, I am definitely inspired by the comic. It has had a big influence on my cartooning work.
