"why do they keep trying to crawl under me"
3 Americana
1 silky
1 buff orpington
and my sister's red heeler whom they are trying to crawl under for warmth.
I Have been keeping chickens for over 20 years but these are the first babies I have had in like half a decade (my current hens are all 6-14 years old)

we have always been a little farm zoned island in the middle of the suburbia that sprouted up around our 90 year old property, but in recent years the law changed so that just about anyone with a backyard can have up to four hens (no roosters though for obvious noisy reasons)
A yup. Les chickens.
I've got a flock of my own, 1 Ameraucana hen (and two boys in a separate pen), 2 Couckoo Marans, 3 French Black Copper Marans (+ 1 roo), and 2 Black laced gold Wyandottes - one of which is a roo.
I want to get some more Wyandottes and Ameraucana's, but it's so difficult to find breeders in Canada or who are willing to ship up from the states...

My sister has a few hens on her homestead.. And every once in a while when I visit, I'm handed a few to take home.. Fresh free range eggs are the absolute best!
It's awesome that you are able to keep your little patch of heaven homesteaded in such an urban area.
