A dragon's reputation is gained from many things... though one that is quite important to dragonkin is the size of one's hoard.
Some take to extortion and raiding to fill their coffers... and at times it's not to uncommon to be accosted by a young dragon who presumes you an easy mark.
Of course with kobolds they can be quick to give such tribute to dragons.

Me thinks there is something special about the gem the young kobold carries, and being the only thing he has... It's going to accidentaly be shown and the dragon is going to try and "take it as payment" in which something interesting would happen, or said dragon is going to demand a different form of payment...

I wonder if it'll be unknowning hypnosis? Have you ever done that before, Zsis? Where the hypnotizer doesn't know the power they hold? In this case, the kobold will pull out the the gem/amulet thing, and it'll entrance the dragon, perhaps without the kobold really understanding or knowing it?
