Bijou are a closed species and NOT a free to create!
omg I'm sorry I have just been so full throttle on these guys I really love them.
Just some species info on their appearances!!
I'm gonna just be adding the info directly from the Bijou Masterpost, so if you've read that its nothing new (yet)!
Also, Bijou gemstone cuts are here! The image is not mine so I didnt want to tack it onto their species reference sheet.
You can also have smooth stone Bijou~
If you're interested in owning one, I have a few more available for adoption with a few more slots for Customs!
I should be uploading more premade designs later this week.
General Species Info:
Bijou are small, bipedal humanoid creatures known for their Gems and empath abilities.
Their average height is between 3 and 4 feet tall at the top of the head, with very few extremes on either end. A Bijou is never taller than 5 foot.
They have three distinct characteristics: horns, plumes (large feelers on their head), and chest gems.
> Horns:
Horns vary in size and number, and act as an aesthetic display for the Bijou. Some are born without horns, lose their horns, or have them damaged but it doesn't cause anything detrimental to the Bijou's health. Owners or Bijou like to sometimes decorate their horns with jewelry.
> Plumes:
Plumes are INCREDIBLY important to a Bijou's health. They act as the main sensor for the Bijou. Bijou have a 6th sense and are able to act as empath for other animals, mainly humans or other humanoids. (They can with other animals/monster species as well, but its not as strong). Even though they are able to live with damaged plumes, damage to a Plume can result in incredible pain for the Bijou, along with chronic pain like migraines, dizziness, hallucinations, and depression. Bijou that have lost their plumes will generally stop eating and sleeping.
> Gems:
Gems are incredibly vital to a Bijou. They are the source of their 6th sense and without a gem, a Bijou will die within a few days. Cracked gems will all but end a Bijou's 6th sense ability and will put the Bijou in a very depressed, stagnant state. Without another person to care for them, they will die with a cracked gem. Gems are also sold on the black market, but its illegal to own jewelry with a Bijou's gem in it. Gems appear from birth and grow with the Bijou. Some gems appear cut while others are naturally rounded and smooth. Trying to cut a gem results in severe trauma to the Bijou and it is illegal to do so. The gems naturally give off a soothing aura to those distressed or experiencing bad anxiety, and because of this, they make fantastic therapy partners.
Bijou are generally owned as pets and therapy partners. Sometimes witches and fortune tellers will own Bijou to help with their casting and spell readings, and it is rumored that a Bijou's presence will naturally ward off bad spirits and severe spell rebounds. Some very powerful Bijou are able to cast and do readings themselves with surprising accuracy. The average Bijou is unable to.
A Bijou is an omnivore, but generally vegetarian. When left on their own, they tend to forage for plants and roots over hunting. This is usually because of their ability to sense distress in animals. They will sometimes eat already cooked meals with meat in it.
Their fur is very airy and light, and short on all but their tail. Despite their thick tail fur, their tail usually stays parallel with the ground and doesnt droop. Their paws are very heavy and cumbersome and they are actually very clumsy when it comes to their fingers and hands. Bijou do not develop breasts and stay generally trim their entire lives. If they gain weight, its usually a bit on their tummy and legs.
