Playing around with one of my style and trying to figure out a color style that best suits it. Not too fond of the coloring style with this one but eh, figure I would post it regardless. For once used Rogue, my coydog character as the test subject instead of Zen who I usually use.

I'd say what you could try doing with your coloring, at least for the accents, is have them more angular, like the linework on the head is. Could be worth a shot. Still, it's not like how you colored it makes the picture bad, I rather like it, and the less realistic fur coloring goes with the more angular style you seem to have done with the lines on this piece.
