all depends on the pilot, and the terrain. ;)

i'd say more pilot than terrain, both the Thanatos and the Timberwolf are too big for urban combat, and Thanatos vs Timberwolf A have about the same versatility in payload. The only terrain i can think would give a clear advantage to either is an open plane where the Timberwolf's twin ER PPCs would come into nasty effect (if i remember correctly the thanatos is a mix of pulse lasers and SRMS)

A lot of the "urban" maps I played were just big enough for a thanatos to squeeze around in. It served me well when a hunchback wasn't going to quite cut it, And an assault was over the weight limit.

I dunno if cannon had them carrying SRMs, I remember it carrying a MRM 20 rack a LBX20 and a trio of Medium Pulse Lasers. Which was just nasty on it's own, but you could squeeze a MRM30 in there without any trouble.
Now a Thanny XT couldn't carry a missile rack so it had a LBX10 and a RAC 5 along with the LBX 20.

BTW if oyu need any kind of weapons loadout verification, hit me up. I got MW4 with MP3 on my Hard drive now. Your to blame! :P

for urban settings i prefer a shadowcat used with skillful guerrilla tactics and a UAC-20 where the gauss normally is (although MW4 sets the weight of clan UAC20s about 2 tons too high).

If custom loadouts are banned for some reason i would love a hunchback IIc, but sadly this never made it into any 'mech pak i saw

It is in MechPack 3. Kinda erfed me that it didn't make it into the mechwarrior 4. But it was in Mech Commander.

a thor is weak from range as the most common variant is a medium-range focused loadout (ER PPC, LRM-15, LB-10x) anything mounting a pair of ER PPCs or a pair of LRM-20's can smash it apart before the pilot figures out where you're shooting from.

mmm been a long time since I've seen that beauty. I perfer the atlas and the madcat personally but thats just me.

I prefer SOME degree of agility with my mechs. The Atlas is much too "All smash" for me. Madcat is beautiful though.

there was another one. It had some agility but had plenty of power to call at also. Liiked human(ofcourse) but looked liek it had two towers of missile launchers on its shoulders.

The Marauder was my absolute favorite when I was younger. Unfortunately since it isn't in the newer games, I got used to the Thor and grew to love it as well. ^^

Thors only ever had a special place with me 'cause the antagonist from the 90's cartoon piloted one. Always been more for Vultures/Dire Wolves myself.

Ahem. Anyway, I have a fondness for the Stormcrow/Ryoken. I didn't like it much until I played Mechwarrior 4: Black Knight multiplayer. And if you use the Stormcrow right, you can wallop assault mechs.

I agree with some of the above posters, I want another Mechwarrior game. But for god's sake, whomever build Mech 4 needs to be sacrificed to the Jade Falcon clan and they need to bring back the people who made Mech 3. Mech 3 was superior in damn near every way. Now if they would just start with what they did right in 3, and improve upon it, we'd be getting somewhere.

I never bought 4, it just seemed to lack the atmosphere of Mechwarrior 3.

Come on man, you gotta do the Pirhana. Twelve Gatling-style machine guns on a fast-as-hell 20-tonner, that thing eats anything if you can do hit-and-run attacks right. I wish they'd included it in one of the MechWarrior games...

Other than the excellent mechanical design and details, I'm really impressed with the lighting here too. I don't know how you did the laser but it looks great, and showing the green light reflecting off of the armor is an excellent touch and it's very well done. I don't know why you thought you had trouble with straight lines, but I think this really proves you can do them really well. I also like the background with the faded silhouettes of shapes and the dusk-like sky.

And just because somebody commented on the armaments: Thor has always been highly customizable. Also agree with the people who plugged the Daishi! You know, AgroAntirrhopus, I haven't thought of any BattleTech stuff in years and I was really pleasantly surprised to see how many other people had experience with it. Thank you so much for doing this, it was really cool. ^^

best ones i think to date are the battlemaster, rifleman, mad dog, and a uziel for comical affect

Cool. I realized it after reading the other comments. X3 I liked the show that used to come on TV a long time ago.

The thor, the smaller one Hellspawn, GODS Those were dangerous if they were made right, though my favorites were the Mad Cat, The Mad Cat MK2, The Osiris, and the Uziel, and I think the Puma or Cougar were alts I liked, though craziest design I had was a "rapid" assault Daishi, could go almost 72 kpm I think...and that FAST for a daishi

Daishi with the Largest AC guns available. I was able to knock a freaking Atlas on its ass with that. Recoiled liek a bitch though

For me, my assault varient was default, before I had MekTek, Best damn MC4 mod for mercenaries EVER I think, but It was everything, EVERYTHING removed to max out speed and then put for LBX20's on it I believe, then Nothing but armor, So it had good armor, good speed for the daishi, and when you got close and hit another daishi with max armor with those things, it was normaly one barage, one kill XD and if it didn't kill them their aim would be so far gone they wouldn't get a chance to shoot again normaly XD

I Side swipped a Uziel in the shoulder with a Quad LBX, the largest kind, with liek 2 of the medium varient.

I dont know hwo, but that guy struke liucky. Completly ripped the left arm, the left shoulder and Middle torso to red. He fell to the floor after the first Shot. I kinda stepped over to him, took carefull aim, and put the bastard outta his misery.

That is most definatly an execution right there, *siighs* I need to dig out mercenaries and whatnot again sometime >.<
