The general thoughts I'm reading with other ppls comments is that this is a painful picture to them and it's like you're trapped and being beaten against your will... I, on the other hand, disagree

What i see in this is a visual of the phrase "what doesn't kill me only makes me stronger" ... I see it as you're allowing yourself to experience all these pains / humilities / sufferings but in the mindset that once you're finally unbound, you'll be virtually unstopable due to how strong you've become.
