I asked to include the faint darker blue stripes and slightly brighter front that Sprotchymon first drew on that awesome pixel gift avatar for me back in 2006, while I am still not all sure if I like a perfectly uniform solid single color better.
I find the stripes and second hue on the "underside" make the character more interesting and add some more detail, and look more "realistic" where that is desired, while it is still all very subtle, so it could still be plain solid blue in the right light or in a style that is more 80s-cartoon?

The neckthing originated from the idea of placing the character in a sci-fi setting, where it could show alignment plus maybe the role or position in a starship crew or organization. That never happened though, and outside of such a setting the collar makes little sense and becomes a stereotype cheesy black leather collar I guess, so I am very fine with omitting it where that would be the case. :)

eidt: had to modify it to fix the lower bit of the eye a bit as someone thought I had a pink scar there. Sorry Rotarr.
