I've been curious about quad suits, and what it would be like to try.. And see if my back would be up to it..
Sooo, I got some pointers from a really good quad suit builder on how to make the front stilts. And here they are.
I'm planning to add some Velcro to the front at the hinge to restrict the bending, or to use them as non hinged stilts.. As they stand right now, they really work well.
I still need to add padding around the upper arm area.

The first step is learning to walk with them until it becomes second nature.. You move your left arm and right leg simultaneously and then visa versa with every step.. So far I have used them for about 15-20 mins, and plan to do daily practice sessions before I decide if I'm going to take the plunge and do a quad suit.
Surprisingly, it hasn't been an issue with my back so far. Then again, the creature that is under consideration does have longer front legs than back legs, so it's a little easier on the back than shorter front stilts would be.
The trickiest part is learning how to walk correctly while using them..

Sure!! They're a little awkward at first, but then you get used to them. It also takes a little coordination and understanding on how animals on 4 legs walk..
They're a little longer than would be normal for a quad suit, as the particular character I have in mind has longer front legs than back legs.
