It’s not too late for witchsona week right? Right??
Sorry for the lack of art folks, here’s my contribution to this meme: they have a magic cloak that can change form (which is also nice and fleecy and good for napping in and hiding under in moments of stress) and they aren’t much good at anything else.

I've always wanted to animate Mackeray's description of a witches' sabbath on the salted crossroads - everything from the dance of the toads who entreated the witches to proffer them the flesh of unbaptized babes to the final dance of the witches nude before satan with cats tied around their necks by their tails and fused by their tails to the witches' coccyxs... I REALLY LIKE THE SORT OF WITCHCRAFT RUMORS THAT CHRISTIANS MADE UP OKAY THEY'RE SO ABSOLUTELY METAL. Or at least the Edward Gorey witches. "She got from somewhere stones with eyes and plants that gave off screams and sighs. She made her neighbors' forms in wax and stuck them full of pins and tacks; they then expired with frightful pains inside their bowels, lungs and brains." Just... boss.
I also imagine their sex lives are out of this world.
I keep meaning to analyze her shape language, her simplicity of form and economy of panel design - she's probably up there with Marimekko and Aalto in terms of Finnish Modernism. She was a modern gallery artist before she started doing Moomin, and she does take the occasional dig at the art scene...
She's great. She's impossible to describe in adjectives, but I remember leaving my younger cousins once a collection of the strips while they were visiting - and there's three of us in a room, and (They're dutch, so at 10 and 13 they were 6' basses) I look up at like two in the morning and they're reading it with a flashlight, guffawing at every plot twist. Moomin'll do that.
