Not too hard to figure out who's winning this one is it? Spent most of today working on this in my free time between commissions. Glad I did cause it came out bitchin. :D I'm getting pretty good with lighting I think (the Marauder is a tad flat, but can't win em all!).

Yea, clan Railgun, 7 slots, 28 tons, 56 damage.
It could only be fit on the Behemoth IIc I believe. Came standard on it.
You could only get that mech by gettign MechTech's mechpack 3 installed on your game.
Big slow lumbering beast. If it didn't pop an atlas in the head the first time it was generally gonna loose an arm or leg. And after surviving that a flea could nip at it's heals till it was dead.

Same design, different game. This is from Battletech, a boardgame from the early 90's.

Many of the original Battletech designs were clones of Macross designs. The person who designed the mechs sold them to macross first, and then went and sold them to FASA who then made Battletech. FASA had no idea they had been bought by another company, so for many years the two shared the same designs. Of course eventually FASA had to remove them from their games.
The most memorable was the Hollander II. I first saw one in Mech-Commander. Damn thing made a critical hit on one of my light mechs and one-shot the guy. XD
Was also the same map where you fight a Mad Cat at the end... mission 3 I believe. Worth replaying if you don't capture the Cat on the first try.

They did get sued, but the circumstances were different.

Wow, AgroAntirrhopus, this is really cool! And not just because it's about giant fighting robots. ^^ Saying you're "pretty good" with the lighting is a huge understatement, I think the lighting is is very markedly well done. I'm really impressed with how you vary the intensity of it, from the bright white on the Jager to the pale glow on the Marauder, it all comes together very nicely. I surprised no one mentioned the smoke effects either, considering I think you did a very cool job with them as well.
And really, I had no idea there were this many other people who knew of BattleTech and such. This sort of thing brings back a lot of memories, thanks a lot for doing these couple of images, AgroAntirrhopus! ^^

I'm such a second-generation kid in these things. My Dad grew up building and hand-painting these models... all I ever had were the Mechwarrior video games (the -only- reason to own a 4-axis joystick controller) but I've been playing them since I was five years old. I remember my dad teaching me multiplication by asking out how many LRMs would weigh in vs. my SRMs. You can see why I prefer energy weapons. XD
Great picture! I <3 the dual-PPC.

Well, it's not exactly what happened. They had those designs licensed from a art house. Unfortunately, the art house that came up with the designs simultaneously sold them to both FASA, and the folks making Robotech, Dougram, and Crusher Joe. For years neither company realized they overlapped. When they realized it, if memory serves, FASA decided it would be easier and less costly just to remove the designs from the game than pursue legal action.
