Honestly... I don't think Link and Zelda have that much in common to stay together as a couple. Zelda is a princess raised to be proper and clean, Link was raised by children and collects bugs while living in a tree. Besides, Link has plenty of other women that seem to want him:
Malon, the farm girl, they would make a cute couple. She seems pushy enough to keep him in line.
Saria, his childhood friend, they have a strong history together and she clearly likes him.
Ruto, the Zora Princess, Not a very good pick... but she wants to make a freaky fish baby with him so badly.

Well, let's see...

A Link to the Past (SNES): Turns into a Pink Fluffy Bunny

Ocarina of Time (N64): Some age changing
Majora's Mask (N64): Turns into a Shrub, a Rock Monster, a Fishman, and a Deity.
Oracle of Seasons/Ages (GBC): Turns into a Ocorok, Moblin, LikeLike, or Merman
Wind Waker (GC): None... but you do get to control a birdgirl, a shrub or a seagull
Minish Cap (GBA): Some size transformations
Twilight Princess (Wii/GC): Turns into a wolf.
Yeah, I wouldn't put it past him.

Not really. XD But you know, the name is pretty funny. Link is also another canditate whom I wouldn't want.
Considering the games where his name is Link and then there are the games where you can change the name. Then he's Fagballs. XD Why the hell is the game called Legend of Zelda if the hero is Link? I mean, you're not going to see Peach's Marios anytime soon, are ya? Maybe the Legend of Link just didn't have that right ring to it.

I'm pretty sure the official story is that once OOT was done, Young Link went on a journey to explore the world, and Adult Link went all Mad Max for a while, so neither of them actually stuck around and hung out with Zelda that much. Apparently the official story is that saving the world caused two seperate timelines. Though they've never been very clear with it when asked. ^.^;;
Okay... here is what happened. When Link beat Ganondorf, they sealed Ganondorf into the Sacred Realm in the past, that way, he wouldn't be able to destroy the future. So Adult Link would stop existing because they would of have no need to have Link sealed in the Temple of Time for 7 years. But to be honest, there are so many different timelines and story arches that it's too hard to peice it all together anymore, because then you get into what is really the future of Ocarina of Time's Hyrule? Twilight Princess where things really have changed that much (aside from the Temple of Time being in ruins) or Wind Waker where everything was sunk below the sea? Really the only option is to just examine the games as they stand alone each as their own timeline.
The thing is Miyamoto was quoted as dramatically pointing out that OoT split into two timelines. Link was sent back in time and lived in the non-ruined hyrule, growing up as normal, and Majora's Mask features the same link on his continuing adventure. Likewise the Capcom zelda games all feature link on that world exploring adventure. At the same time, this darker world where Gannondorf rose to power but was defeated continued to exist in another dimension concurrently.
Or so the logic goes. Since Nintendo never published a difinitive timeline, it's up to players to guess. And it's lots of fun. <3
