I take it he was into fishing then?

Umm... you could say that... Google The Colonial Angler, and you'll see just how much. He's kind of famous in the fly fishing world...He's even been on covers of magazines, and written about in books. I was so proud of my FIL. I miss him, but none of the rest of the family. He was such a gentle, and caring man... I feel sorry for him, actually, having to deal with the misery that his wife and daughter, and his son > when he's around, put him through. My ex was raised better than the way he treated me, and was certainly not raised to abandon his responsibilities, on a whim. I'm sure my FIL was appalled, and tried to talk him out of it, but they don't get along, and of course my ex never listened to anything, but the sound of his own voice.

The rest was the frowny face. The google was cool :)

I'm still proud of him. Despite his wife's tsk-ing him all the time, and yelling at him, he puts up with it, day after day, year after year... and he keeps on doing his fly tying demonstrations, at conferences all over the Country. I don't know how he finds the time, to tie those flies, between work, and dealing with his rotten family. But his flies are some of the most beautiful in the world! He has had commissions from Europe, even! He was, and I'm sure still is, a good man. I wish I could still say the same for his son. :/
