I wasn't aiming to be snide, but maybe I worded it poorly. ;P
When an image is large enough to require someone to scroll a page in all directions on a 19" monitor, it may be time to consider sizing it down.
When your image has extra things in the background that detract from what you're trying to show off (The art), like say... A hand holding the page up (Not the art), it may be time to consider cropping some stuff out of the image.
You did okay on the art, but having to scroll all around to see it all really detracts, and having a hand and background clutter draws the eye away. Is that better? :P

There's The GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/ ), which is free and pretty well featured- and it runs on Windows, Linux, and OSX; MS Paint which comes with most installs of Windows including XP; and Paint.net (http://www.getpaint.net/index.html ) which is also free and works on Windows XP with a pretty decent set of features behind it.
And really, age is unimportant. If anything, it would simply be used as an easy way to ignore and discredit, instead of doing something, like receiving comments and criticism should be doing.
