Something I spat onto digital canvas last night ... actually set myself a 30 minute deadline, but ended up finishing some details today for a total of 45 minutes.
What's this picture? Nothing truly specific, though I have been playing with story ideas for my Universe. In essence, this is just meant to be a space ship with refugees on it, though it's nowhere near as crowded as I wanted to make it feel... still a good exercise in lights and stuff.
Will move it to scraps later.

I always imagined Si'itians as always being wealthy, or at least well to do for some reason, never imagined they would ever end up with refugees. As for there not being too many of them in this scene, you could assume that it's a part of the ship with limited power, and life support has been turned down making it much colder than the rest of the ship. As such, only those wanting some room to themselves would venture to this section, and risk the cold.
In general, si'itians are a post-scarcity society, but that doesn't mean they're entirely beyond catastrophies or influences of war. There is a planetary evactuation mechanism, but even with that in place, any conflict becomes a chaotic mess eventually and some people will fall through the cracks.
Your idea is valid though. I guess some people would venture to do that, but then I never put that much thought into it X3

A shame they never continued the franchise and expanded on that lore.. but then Don Bluth had a fall out with the writer and Don-bluths art and animation ~Really~ makes those old movies pop. I'll watch one with a terrible plot just for expressive animation he displays.
Sci-fi I've always loved that whole.. 'Infinate possibilities in space.. but then in nooks and cranny's on a space station, floating around in a sort of small freighter.. stuff like that.. the loneliness in the vast possibilities .. ramblyramble it just gets me all.. pumped up.

Oh, I didn't know they had sequels shelved, but to be honest, I don't think they could have extended much from there. The big bad was destroyed, the refugee situation was resolved and all that's really left to do is tell a story of the recolonization and I don't think they could have made it go anywhere else but the wrong corner :/ I loved the character design though.
As for the idea of space travel. Sure, I would love to go ^^ I know I'm the paranoid type, so I'd constantly worry about the absolute nothingness outside of the hull, but apart from that, I would love a space age.

Well the books they may have been set on happens kinda all between the events of earths fall and where they pick up in the movie. kinda a laaaarge area there to play with and explain. Y'know stuff like 'where da hell did thingies daddeh go?' but on the side they could have played a little more with the lore universe they had established.
Would love a space-age.

For a speedpaint this is pretty nice looking. I really like the setting that this piece conveys. I get the impression that the two in red and green outfits kinda look like upper middle class and they are looking upon the refugees who are down on their luck. This has a lot of emotion in it. Nicely done iPoke.
No, I haven't gotten around to doing ME fanart yet, mostly because of a lack of subjects, despite the games massive scope ... I could probably do your suggestion though. The mako was one of the things I really loved about the series because it gave it that 70's and 80's feel of science fiction illustrations ^w^
When it comes to charitable giving and helping people out, I focus on those in the furry fandom who come on very difficult times whether it's medical bills/necessary surgery, big veterinary bills, the desperate need to buy food, help towards rent to avoid eviction, those who have become homeless, etc. If I was filthy stinkin' rich I'd help a great deal more people, but for what I am able to do I can at least help some people.
Tryin' to figger it out...
The best way I can figure cryo out is a mixture of sources/ideas/theories...
I'm torn between just an oxygenated flouride/ine(?) Type liquid breathing system at low temps or using the fluid as a near freezing blood replacer for long term sleep/bio-maintenance system...
