This is a couple concept design sketches from a several years ago for a futuristic racing vehicle. The craft has anti-grav lift but gets no propulsion from it; instead it rams great amounts of the local atmosphere into its great intakes and turns into plasma and blows it out the rear. A fusion bottle provides the power for this baby. The end result looks like a cross between Formula One auto racing and the TV series Oban Star-Racer. It is a completely silly and over the top form of racing but it looks cool.
I imagined the crafts racing on a world with a rather thin atmosphere which explains the gigantic intakes. Races are held over closed circuit and are held relatively close to the ground. Racers do not get more than a couple hundred feet off the ground. Think Reno Air Races. The track is wide which is a good thing since I don't imagine riding directly behind another crafts plasma tail would be much fun or good for your craft. No matter what kind of cool uber-tech materials you had made it out of!

that is so neat! What are your references when you draw various moods of transportation. I am currently trying to draw a rider on the motorcycle, but I cannot get to proportions right along with the overall shape of the motorcycle (it is in the design of a harely cruiser). All in all I am in awe of your nitch for drawing technology :)
For this I had no physical reference in front of me. In my mind I was remembering various race car designs, both Indy and F1, and assorted aircraft and anime images I have seen over the years.
I do possess an extensive collection of both hard copy and digital images. These can be very useful in the creating images. Also I possess several models and toys of various vehicles that I use for reference when creating images. What is the specific model of cruiser are you looking for? Or are you attempting to just capture the "feel" of a specific style of cruiser?
