"Rowrbrazzle's 20th Anniversary Art By Mary Hanson-Roberts"
Ordinarily, I would wait until my next 'sweeps month' (which will be in May, 2015) before I present more images from my (2004) "Rowrbrazzle Artist's Jam" - in celebration of the 'funny animal' APAzine's 20th anniversary back then - but I'm making one exception for a very special reason...
On Sunday, March 1st - when I'd celebrated my 61st birthday - I was joined by
Funimal, who had treated me to lunch at T.G.I. Friday's that afternoon. During our meal, Funimal told me about the upstate trip he'd taken to Orlando, on the weekend before this one....
One of the items on his itinerary was to pay a social visit to our good friend - and talented anthroartist/illustrator - Mary Hanson-Roberts (who most 'furry folks' know her as the artist/writer behind "Here Comes A Candle" - the serialized story from the comic book "Furrlough", which eventually was made into an individual graphic novel).
In the years since then, Mary has been selling some of her one-of-a-kind anthropomorphic artwork on eBay . These images usually include dragons, gryphons, various taur creatures, and even winged cats. But according to Funimal, Mary hasn't been selling her wares on eBay as frequently as she used to (and, until a better gig comes along, she is living on every cent she makes, selling these one-of-a-kind originals).
So, if any of you are interested in seeing some of Mary's art - before going to eBay - I will try to entice you with some of the drawings that she'd rendered for me, over the years...
I begin with her contrib to my "Rowrbrazzle Artist's Jam". And since said jam was celebrating the publication's twentieth year, her artwork (on Page Five) depicts a different sort of year... namely, the "Roaring 20s"! Appropriately enough, she drew a 'flapper' - a high-kicking, scantily-clad gal - from that era!
Two other drawings that Mary had done for me appeared (respectively) in my "BBS" ("Big Black Sketchbook") and my "BFFSB" ("Black-covered Fat Furry Sketchbook"). You'll be seeing each of them, later this month (in the hope that it will inspire you to make a purchase of her newer material in eBay)...
