The national bird of Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan Junglefowl is related to the ancestor of the domesticated chicken, the wild jungle fowl. Just as sexually dimorphic as domesticated chickens, they form prides of sorts, with sibling pairs or triplets of males that host a single female. She mates with the ‘alpha’ of the group. They are almost impossible to keep in captivity as they are unable to feed off of vegetables based fats and proteins.
