This occur during Mufasa's reign, when the king is still quite in his first time of reign. The hyenas relationship between the lions are very bad and they aren't allowed inside the pridelands when the sun touches the land. So they are very desperate and most of them then fall to Banagi's lies and plottings. the huge beast wants to take control over Priderock, which is good for the hyenas, sadly, he's so crual that he kill his own kind and put them at risk of terrible reprisals. Not only that, but most matriachs are against his fantaisies, one by one they too fall.
During a night, the few last guards left in the pridelands are killed along with the most respected hyena matriarch. It's then too much for Shenzi and the young hyena dare the untinkable.
For the hyenas, almost half of them that aren't on his side or forced to be, he's just an huge monster, an abomination, both in size and heart. He's remembered not, they try only to forget about the even darker times than the graveyard exile.
