Madmen-Asylum longest night- 8 Claustrophobia
'A living corpse in
A grave; my lungs thrive with worms
While shadows reign.'
The haiku here belongs to British-Prophetess from dA and was a gift for me

For Madmen-Asylum manias vs phobias art jam 'The Longest Night'. This hour theme is Claustrophobia.
I chose my OC Helen Kane, who is a very calm person... but really doesn't like too small and windowless places. Her fear was used as inspiration by jgraham1993 in his short story

Eight O’clock: Claustrophobia
One of the most common phobias, the fear of enclosed spaces is another fear that had a strong evolutionary and cultural basis. It was said that our ancestors have learned that small, dark places may be the homes of dangerous animals and we need to be fearful of them. As a consequence, this fear may be a trait that we pass on from generations to generations. The cultural component of claustrophobia may include folktales of premature burial. Between 5-7% of the world population is estimated to be affected by severe claustrophobia. Triggers include elevators, medical equipment (such as the MRI) and even tightly-knit clothing and turtlenecks.
Notable example: The actress Uma Thurman has severe claustrophobia. During the filming of “Kill Bill: Vol. 2”, she was filmed buried alive in a coffin. She described it as “horrific. Nobody wants to live that experience.”
Ps: This works is for inspiration because I'm one of the judges! So I can't actually win this contest. So don't be shy and check the group to join! There are cool prizes.
I own my OC Helen Kane, but not the haiku or the story
