The night air was still, the stars gleaming overhead, and through the faint ambient glow cast by them and the distant city beyond the fields, the Chae father walked through the vinyard rows, his fledgling daughter in his wings. They were safe, sound, and unawares. For all around them, across the vastness of space and the depths of time, forces for good and ill were swirling about their family and their world. Soon the dawn would come, and their stories unfold. The winds rise.
