This is a quick and easy pizza or Stromboli dough recipe.
Ingredients:
4 cups of flour
1 1/2 cups of water
1 packet quick rise yeast
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp salt (can omit if needed)
Italian seasonings to taste
Place the four cups of flour into a large mixing bowl and combine it with the seasonings and salt. Create a well in the center by pushing the flour around to the sides. combine the yeast packet with one and a half cups of WARM water and a tablespoon of sugar. The sugar will be consumed by the yeast so it will not raise the sugar content of the dish much.
Let the yeast activate (takes about ten minutes. once it is done the yeast will have bubbled on the surface.)
using either your hands (this will be messy) or a spoon combine the yeast mixture and the flour together. you will want to knead and mix the dough for about 5 to 7 minutes or until it's smooth. add additional flour if it starts to get too sticky or clumpy. add additional water if the flour is not absorbing enough.
Place the dough in a greased or oiled bowl and flip the dough around several times to completely coat the dough in oil. Leave it to sit for about an hour to an hour and a half (this is at the forty minute point and the dough has doubled in size) once it has completely risen, turn the dough out and punch it down slightly before stretching it a bit to improve elasticity. Shape it to your desired shape and bake.
