This was done as a commission last July (2014).
Unfortunately there were some... complications between the commissioner and I.
They didn't like the art, and I went back and edited it at least 3 times to try to please them, but it was still not enough.
And this was all for a $15 commission, minus the PayPal fees.
The commissioner DEMANDED that I take the art down or else they were going to do a charge-back for the commission.
I argued that it was art that I did and I should have every right to post it in my gallery. (It wasn't like they were buying the exclusive rights to it or something,)
But to make this all go away, I acquiesced and took it down.
I should have done this earlier, because I had every right to have it here in my gallery, but I am doing it now. I am re-posting it here.
So, here is a commission I did, a PSA on how it is cool to be in diapers!
It is FAR from my best work, but I was trying to draw the the character in that particular style, something I had never drawn before (and haven't drawn since, thanks to the bad taste this left.)
It took me quite a lot of time to get the right shapes and forms and such, so there was a lot more work that went into this than it looks. Drawing in a new style is tough!!
(BTW this is the final version I submitted to the commissioner. I see no need to upload the previous versions that I worked on before, as they are clearly not as good as this one.)
I am interested to hear what you all have to say, any comments or critiques or such. :)

I'll be honest. I think if the commissioner asks that you do NOT post artwork they paid you to do and prefer to keep it private, you should do so. regardless of what kind of experience you had with them, it's just common courtesy.
There's lots of times I've been asked not to post something. Regardless of the relations I have withe commissioner, I abide by their wishes. It's professional and it's courteous.

If there is a legitimate reason, such as something personal about the art or something offensive or just private about it, then yes. I agree 100%.
But if the only reason is that the commissioner is not happy, despite re-doing the art three times and taking multiple hours on what was a very basic commission, then I have to respectfully disagree.
It is still representative of my art, and if it is a subject that can bring more interest to my art, then it would behoove me to post it so others can see.

It is a bit of a gray area, and I waited 8 months to post it back up, which I think is a reasonable amount of time.
I am sure the person would not say they were being spiteful, but he told me to either take it down or else they were going to dispute it with PayPal and get their money back, that seems pretty spiteful to me.

Yeah, that's pretty petty. You did the work, you gave him the final product. they shouldn't be complaining for a refund just because you posted it. Sounds too much like a ploy to get free art.
Again, I've had people commission me for private pieces, but they make it clear first thing that it's private and to keep it between them. I've thankfully never had someone pull a stunt like what you dealt with.

Oh yeah. If a person commissioned me for a private piece of art (which actually has only happened once with me) then I would by all means keep it private.
I never posted that private art I did for them and honestly it is probably lost to the ages. I dont even know if I have a copy of it.. This was quite a few years ago. (though it was only a very basic drawing anyways, so no big loss, LOL)
But yeah, It sounds like there was either just no pleasing this person, so they were trying to free art. I am not sure which, and honestly I don't really care. I am not about to talk to them to drudge up old hurt feelings.
Thankfully this is the only time that I have ever had this problem. I hope that this will be the last time.

OMFG. Your spelling makes this all the better. Flagging their account will do nothing. They didn't do anything wrong but not draw an expression correctly.
Suck it up, buttercup. Let your friend fight their own battles. XD
Also, I am not even here to defend seaweed. I just think you're a dunce.

I hope that commissioner is on your block list now!
Since that these are SEGA characters, that are not even owned by the commissioner, the commissioner has no right to tell you what can't do with them. After all, the art is not by them, and the characters are not of them. SEGA is the only one who has a right to tell you to remove them. SEGA is never likely do that of course, since they don't seem to have issues with fan art.
This is no different than someone asking an artist to draw Santa Claus, then demanding that they never post it because his eyes were looking the wrong way! If it was their own character they'd have a right to say something (hopefully politely).

The weird thing is that the original commissioner was never happy, but they were always civil (unlike this guy commenting here). The commissioner never called me names, or yelled or anything like that.
It really takes A LOT for me to ban someone. I am not sure I have ever banned anyone.. If I have it was a temp ban. I dont have a single person on my ban list. I just don't like to do it.
And yes, I am not worried at all about either this guy or Sega making me take this down.

I wouldn't worry about SEGA either, as they just aren't in the habit of kicking the fans that feed them.
I'm glad the original was at least civil, but even with that, the person doesn't have much say in how you draw a character that they don't even own.
I've only ever blocked spammer accounts temporarily. Then I'd file a trouble ticket, wait for the account to be banned, then removed them from my block list. That happened a couple times a few years ago, but I haven't seen and spammers on here in a long time now. Perhaps FA put a captcha system in place for new accounts or something.
I prefer to ignore problems users, rather than block them. It actually works as well, and the user gets no feedback to even know that I noticed them. If I were to block them, they'd know that they bothered me, and I can imagine some users getting off to knowing they bother people.
One thing always amazes me. That is the number of people who are unhappy with art that is done for them. Many times it is because they demand an artist to draw in someone else's style, or they want topics that an artist simply doesn't like to draw. It would be nice if people actually looked through an artist's gallery before asking them to draw something. That way, they could see if they even like the artist's style and preferences before asking.

the artist seaweed likes to give out crappy commisions for art he doesnt like to do.
he also is using still copyrighted characters sonic and tails without permission
he also is blatantly violating privacy rights of the uploader and QUOTE
"They didn't like the art, and I went back and edited it at least 3 times to try to please them, but it was still not enough.

fair statement considering the art is INTENTIONALLY looks liek garbage, you can see that he does super fine work on things he wants to make... and generates trash when he doesnt want to make a request.
barbequed.

My god your stupidity gives me cancer. First thing first, HE isnt a he. Seaweed is female. Secondly, the commissioner can REQUEST the art not be posted, but its up to the artist to do with it as they please. Third, If you're going to give out lessons about drawing copyrighted characters, you better be the big hero and go after EVERYONE else who has. Lets see your art, your drawings mister perfect. Oh, here it is. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13841962/
The best part of all this, is you think that you are right. It really makes me laugh.
Also, you should go back to school about grammar, spelling and punctuation.

First off, I am a girl.
Secondly, you aren't even the commissioner, so you have no idea what what was going on, so don't even pretend like you do.
Third, there are hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of copyrighted characters on FA, Are you going to go after all of them?
Fourth, how exactly did I "violate the privacy right of the uploader"?? I created the art.. it is MY art, and *I* and the uploader. So I blatantly violated my own rights?
Finally, I love how you say that it "intentionally looks like garbage" and that I "generate trash". As with the above statements you have no idea what you are talking about, as I worked on it for hours, then worked on it for hours more trying to appease the commissioner. Why would I take the commission if I didn't want to do it? I was excited to try something new.
A shame this totally soured me on the sonic fandom.
LOL, there is no BBQ going on here.
