I love close-ups in comic noir and this, my very first own close-up in particular. I am even thinking about framing the original artwork of this full page panel. That uncomfortable feeling of being too close, causing claustrophobic panic. It’s leaving no room to breathe and trapping the reader. It’s awesome. I will definitely make more use of this technique. I got inspiration for the facial expression by Falvie. Sadly the photograph didn’t capture the full glory of this painting, but you get the idea.
Done with watercolours and pigment ink on 300g/m² watercolour paper.
