I'd like to introduce you to my strange and wonderful pet. Her name is Fluff, and she is a female Hyllus Giganteus jumping spider. I bought her from the South-East Arachnid Show in late January. I went there in search of a jumping spider specifically - nothing else can compare to them for their endearing, curious, intelligent nature. They are also unique in their apparent enjoyment of interaction with people. I handle Fluff every day, and if I put her on the floor she will always choose to run back to my hand. She is truly amazing.
This is a quick shot I took of her during our journey home, on of the many occasions I noticed her staring up at me. I've taken some great macro shots on a decent camera since then, which I will upload soon.
(This was just the container she was sold in. She's now in a nice heated terrarium with lots of stuff to climb around on, though generally she prefers the lid as these spiders like to be up as high as possible.)
(Edit: Oh derp, I've been using the wrong prefix for Fluff's species - it's Hyllus Giganteus, not Phidippus Giganteus. Sorry guys!)

That's so awesome! I was really considering getting a tarantula, and after doing a TON of research about them I'm a little sad that they actually prefer not to be picked up. It doesn't harm the animal but it does put them under a bit of stress being handled. I'd love to hold them a lot though! ;u;
I'm glad your spider actually likes to be in your hand that's very good news. ^_^

I LOVE LOVE LOVE JUMPERS. Absolutely the cutest and most inquisitive spiders (and so TAME- even "wild" jumpers are so curious and polite to humans!)
Jumping Spiders are the kittens of the arachnid world, and I always recommend that anyone with a fear of spiders look into videos and information on jumpers.
