This is one of those drawings that started out as just a little sketch that quickly turned into something much more than I ever expected. I initially intended just to warm up a little before I got down to business on some of my Intro to Drawing assignments and commissions, so I started sketching. Next thing I knew, I had something really cute worked out on the page, so I thought I might clean it up a little with inks and show it to my boyfriend. He saw it, made a fuss over just how cute Dreamy is with his fursona, Jaxxon, and... I convinced myself that I might as well slap a little digital coloring on it as practice for a few digital pieces I have in the works.
In the process of this drawing, I pushed myself to try several new techniques: 1 - The drawing of "chibi' characters, 2 - Soft highlights and shading, and 3 - A new layering system. I've learned a few tricks along the way which I will definitely be incorporating into my artwork in the future.
I also decided to experiment with Dreamy's mane and tail a little bit because I was starting to be of the opinion that the fade from blue to green to purple was a bit too unrealistic, even for a furry character. I eventually want to build her into a fursuit, so why try killing myself to get the hair just right if I can come up with a system that still employs all those colors, but is far simpler to arrange? Of course, I'm still interested in hearing what you guys think about the new 'do.
Anyway...

Gawd... where HAVEN'T I been? College has stolen me away from Chatty once again, though I come home frequently to ride my horse and make the monies at work... which means we absolutely need to get together one weekend and do much retardism. Oh, and we need to go out for drinks now that I'm legal. That sounds like fun.
I've gone back to school, but I'm home frequently enough to arrange hang-out times with my beloved furreh friends! Just let me know when you wanna get together and we'll spread the love all over Chatty. In FACT, we could absolutely consider doing a Chattanooga Fur Meet sometime soon... considering we haven't had one since, uh... 2007?
