These are my two palomino mustang mares. Isabella (on the left) is actually a light palomino snowflake appaloosa patterned mustang, while Bianca is a palomino sabino mustang with one blue eye. They are both in foal, and due any minute now. Isabella was bred to a beautiful buckskin Andalusian stallion named Ronaz and will be having a spotted blanket Perlino filly. And Bianca was bred to a Blue Roan Tovero mustang stallion named DuskQuill WindWarrior and is having a Smokey Black Tovero Colt.
Now, to talk about the piece itself. I'm some what pleased with it. I wanted it to look professional, and yet simple as well. No brushes were used, all of this was hand painted using my tablet and PSP. Line art was drawn in Open Canvas, and will be made available to the free line art site when it's updated next. I'm happy with how Isabellas light color came out, however I didn't want to do Bianca the same palomino shade, but alas, I feel I failed at it. It was also intentional to show more refined features on Isabellas head compared to Bianca's more generic mustang head, but I think both came out looking rather pretty.
The intention, and play on words with this piece, was to show the two different foals each 'golden' mare would be bringing into this world. On one side of the spectrum, Isaballa is going to be in foal to a very light colored filly, while on the other side Bianca is in foal to a dark colt.
I faded these foals a little more in this piece, but have posted a second piece in my gallery that shows the foals a little better.
