Goblins are more or less oppurtunistic as opposed to evil. They survive how they can and, if it looks like a good choice, will attck travelers etc. Ranking in goblin society is based on how much one owns; therefore, most high ranking goblins in tribes are the biggest thieves. This often results in those wanting power killing the one above them, adding to their own collection, and thus now the leader. Smarter Goblins horde what they can secretly, then sell it off to honest merchants and make something of themselves in the city (Some goblins are respectable business owners or highly skilled mages). There is no sexist difference between male and female goblins; usually the meaner, smarter, stronger individuals are the highest ranking. This sometimes results in a tribe or two ruled by the females while males do all the work, or equal tribes, or tribes where men make the women do everything.
