The Evolution Of Surly Squirrel
Finally got this one done, I came home from work and I just listened to some music while working on this, took about 3 hours to finish. I did work on it a little bit a couple days ago though.
Alright so here We have some early fan art from The Nut Job that I did last year, and I thought it would be cool to color it.
Surly's design changed a lot over the years, from 2005 to 2014 He went through 3 changes as far as I know. I think they picked purple because He is suppose to be the rare purple Squirrel, probably for laughs:

Yeah like I said above His second look is pretty nice, I have been wanting to draw some stuff with His second
look, but so far this is the only piece of art I have of that look.
Also His eyes sort of remind you of Grayson don't they??

I should thank you! I've watched Surly and Buddy's past incarnations and gotta say...nutjob could've been hundreds of times more better if added adult humor and stuff from the 2005 short. But I'm not picky. I love the Nutjob and am looking forward to seeing the sequel
My guess is that He had a rough past, probably learned that he couldn't trust anyone, and learn to only look
out for yourself. Buddy was like the only one who He really cared about in the first movie at first, but later
on He started to change.
In the nut job 2 they actually show you how Surly and Buddy met, and its a pretty deep scene actually.
I also would like to know why Buddy doesn't speak. In the nut job he doesn't speak until the very end
when He thought He lost Surly, so that proves that He can talk, but He chooses not too for some reason.
I wanna know why Buddy either chooses not to speak, or why He can't speak most of the time.
