Them being such a stable and 'permanent' fusion makes a lot more sense when you realize corundum is both a ruby and a sapphire, the only difference is colour. If it is red, it's label'd a ruby, if it's any other colour, it's considered a sapphire.

Yea. I showed this and the two-parter to a friend yesterday, they were like 'Time to catch up'.
The song was so good~

... typically, the songs in that show are too grating for me to enjoy ... but I sat through it. It wasn't very catchy, but I'm glad I learned about them being a fusion, first, cause making sense was a strong redeeming quality about that song.

Then I went back and I watched other eps where she fused and I realize that she had two gems representing her and I was like 'How did no one else notice??'

... then I found out Sugilite was voiced by Nikki Minaj.

Yea, Sugilite was voiced by Nikki. I found it humorous and her lines...ironic? Or, well, they just fit like they could describe Nikki.

The ones that really pay attention probably noticed, and a there was a hint about Garnet being a fusion in Alone Together.

I still don't like Alexandrite. I felt like she could look better. Maybe its a...unison thing? Like Jasper and Lapis, maybe they could look different if their fusion was consensual.

alexandrite was supposed to look like a mess. that all of them together is just horribly unstable.

I am 100% certain that under those bangs Sapphire has only 1 eye, since Garnet has 3. For some reason the 2 of them remind me of Knuckle Joe from Kirby and Princess Peach.

I don't know why people think Sapphire only has one eye, it makes more sense for two. Garnet's 3 eyes are all different colors, one red, one blue, and then the middle one is purple. it would make sense if Sapphire had two and the middle one is the overlap between both pairs (that's why it's purple, blue + red)

It's because fusions often have all the eyes of the fused gems. Sugilite has 5 eyes 3 from Garnet, 2 from Amethyst. Malachite has 4. Of course Opal only has 2 eyes so that's not always the case. I think the most likely case is that because Sapphire and Ruby are so intimate they only get 1 of Sapphire's eyes because it's needed for future sight. Similarly most fusions have extra sets of limbs while Garnet does not Alexandrite even has an extra mouth.

I actually had been predicting Garnet was a fusion pretty much since I found out they could fuse. She has 2 gems, and they aren't identical. The third eye was also a clue, and then her Reaction when Steve and Connie fused.
I also think this may have something to do with why Garnet sided with Rose Quartz. Jasper seemed to find it...unnatural to stay fused like that and I wonder if Garnet wasn't an outcast on homeworld. She sure as heck doesn't seem to miss it like Pearl does.

Why would Garnet side with Rose was something I been pondering over too. Make me wonder if the very act of fusing is considered "wrong" on the gem home world, similar to how some view homosexuality.
