First came the crash, and then the pain. Minty gasped as her body shook, the shock of what had just happened numbing her mind. She had been riding with her friend, Cameron, when she had been thrown clear. She still wasn't sure how it had happened. Minty didn't want to move from where she lay. her arm and her leg hurt most of all. tears ran down her cheeks, and minty blinked as Cameron ran over to see how she was.
"Oh my, Minty!. Don't move. I'll get help."
Cameron quickly headed inside the house, and soon returned with a small medical kit.
"There's an ambulance on the way, Minty," he said as he opened up the kit. "Here, let me see what you've done."
He checked her over, trying to be careful. despite his care though, sharp pain shot through Minty's body every time he touched her left arm and her right leg.
"I think they might be broken," Cameron said softly.
Cameron pulled out a few bandages from the medical kit and gently slipped a sling around the young fox's arm to support it. He then applied a splint to her leg. It wasn't much, but at least it would help to keep minty somewhat comfortable untill the ambulance got her to the hospital. Cameron knelt next to his friend and held her good hand.
"I'll stay by your side, Minty."
Minty looked at him through her tears, a slight smile on her lips. She was lucky to have a friend like Cameron.
"Thank you," she whispered. "You really are a good friend, Cameron..."
