Commission for
dolphinfriend
Finally finished. Commissioned at MFM 2014, between the ups a downs of my world, a requested delay by the commissioner, and my own hang ups while doing this one it feels like it took me years to get to it, and to get it done. I have “Arted” this character (Misha) before in both a badge and charcoal. The commissioner is becoming a regular. I tried to tell a story with this, though I will let the painting tell the story it self.
Media: Acrylic on Masonite

A musketeer (French: mousquetaire) was an early modern type of soldier equipped with a musket. Musketeers were an important part of early modern armies, particularly in Europe. In most cases they served on foot as infantry, though sometimes they could operate on horseback: as a cavalryman or dragoon.
I think you're referring to the movie the three musketeers or other versions of it in which a musketeer is employed as a royal guard or queens guard.
He is wanted by the King for whatever reason, and can't be a royal guard or queens guard if he is an outlaw.

"He’d a French cocked-hat on his forehead, a bunch of lace at his chin,
A coat of the claret velvet, and breeches of brown doe-skin.
They fitted with never a wrinkle. His boots were up to the thigh.
And he rode with a jewelled twinkle,
His pistol butts a-twinkle,
His rapier hilt a-twinkle, under the jewelled sky."
The Highwayman, Alfred Noyes
First thing that popped into my head when I say this picture, just without the lace, was this poem.
