One hell of an Eighties coupe, the Fuego (Spanish word for Fire) was Renault's answer to the Ford Capri & Opel Manta. Basically a tarted up 18, the Fuego came with 1400cc to 2000cc petrol engines & a 2100cc Turbo diesel. The most desirable version of the car being the 1600cc Turbo model which featured BBS alloys, 132bhp, a top speed of 125mph & giant turbo stickers down the sides (which made it faster of course). One key element of the car was it's aerodynamics, measured at 0.34%, this is one slippery eighties car. In 1982, it was one of the first cars to feature remote central locking too.
The car was immortalised in the 1987 James Bond film, A View to a kill where a Red Turbo is used in the garage scene where Patrick Macnee is killed. The numberplate for that car has somewhat been anglosised in this image, going from 1545 BGT 75 to A454 B9T.
The Renault Fuego is a VERY rare car here in the UK, only sold in the British isles from 1980 to 1986. It makes you wonder if Hot Hatches never took off, we may all be driving Fuegos.
I've recently became very interested in these cars, hence my artists impression of one. this is my first drawing of a Renault & I have to say, I love the way these cars look, almost a poor-man's Porsche 944 with that bubble rear window, but those grilles down the side & those eightiestastic alloys, what a triumphant design.
I feel I have captured the character of these cars & you can see, my rendering techniques are getting better, even though it isn't photo-realistic, it's a very good rendition of the car. What do you guys think?

Lil' trivia if interested: Us argentinians were the only ones to heavily race Fuegos in a local touring car championship, the TC2000, where it scored 8 consecutive championships from '86 to '93. Such was the sucess of the model at the track that it spawned two NA 2.2L versions known as the GTA & GTA Max, with 120HP in the latter designation (we didn't got the turbo).
