It's been a while since I had rendered another piece of 'fan art' for Graham Nolan - the talented cartoonist behind several major comic books - and I finally got inspired to do something for him last week, when I had learned that it was his birthday (on March 13th), via Facebook...
I'd wished Graham a happy birthday on that day, promising him that I would draw a new 'fan art' piece with one (or more) of his characters from "Sunshine State" - his satirical comic strip about Florida, with an all-animal cast, headed by 'Melbourne' (a.k.a. 'Mel') the alligator...
Well, long story short, I came up with a two-panel comic gag with 'Mel', and (for the first time) I had teamed him up with my bobcat character 'Rob Cat', in a strip with somewhat political overtones. As some of you may (or may not) know, Florida Governor Rick Scott doesn't want members of his administration to use such 'politically correct' ecological terms as 'Global Warming', 'Climate Change', and 'Sea Level Rise' - much to the chagrin of residents in the southern end of the peninsula (which scientists predict will be completely buried under water, possibly as early as the middle of the 21st Century)!
Needless to say, I couldn't resist having 'Mel' and 'Rob' give their respective takes on this issue, with the bobcat being the more sarcastic of the twosome!
BTW, you can view my previous two works of 'fan art' for Mr. Nolan at the following links:
"Sunshine State" Fan Art #1: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8005417/

...and you can view Graham's drawing of 'Mel' in my "BBS" ("Big Black Sketchbook" at http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3938340/
As for "Sunshine State" itself, the webcomic is now part of the GoComics line-up, and can be found by going to www.gocomics.com/sunshine-state/ , as well as in its own separate 'wall' in Facebook.
FOOTNOTE: Graham will definitely remember when I'd sent him this 'fan art' strip, because I'd posted it on his Facebook wall on "National Pi Day" - March 14, 2015 - at approximately 9:26 PM, E.S.T. For those of you nerds in the know, those are the first eight digits in the mathematical equation for Pi (π = 3.1415926...), a combination that will not come up this way again for another century!
