Mainly to get away from past (bad) history and distance ourselves from "Oren's" CFF - though I'm not really sure of the validity of either of those reasons yet.

That bad past history was years ago, before I joined. And I don't really see Oren being the issue.

There may be good reasons to rebrand the group, but I don't think either of those are.

I am just asking myself why all of this would be necessary for the fandom... I am honestly uncomfortable with groups pushing religious agendas within the community.

Everyone has agendas, religious, philosophical, academic or otherwise.

Ours is simple: to know Jesus and make Him known to others.

Yes, that is true. But I see religious agendas as dangerous, especially if you are actively trying to convert people.
