Devil's Tower National Monument, Wyoming. This thing is much bigger than it appears to be in photos and is amazing to see in real life. Legends tell of a giant bear using its claws to score the sides of the tower.

Enchanted Rock outside of Fredricksburg, Tx, is the same way. You just cannot believe your eyes when you get up close. It is like a tanker or aircraft carrier, they just don't seem that big until you get close.

I'll have to make it a point to see Enchanted Rock if I ever get down that way. I've driven as far as Round Rock. Maybe another hour and 45 minutes or so.

Sam Bass was killed in Round Rock. That is all Williamson County has going for it. Driving to Enchanted Rock is a constant wondering why in the hell would a bunch of Germans want to live on the surface of Mars. Point of fact, many did not make it.
