Only a month late for Valentine's Day. It's like how stores always advertise holidays two months in advance. Except the opposite.
So back at the start of February I got this idea in my head and I really wanted to do something about it, but no matter what I tried I just couldn't think of a good angle to get started on. Ultimately Valentine's Day came and went and I still hadn't even gotten the beginning done, but I still couldn't stop thinking about this story, I just had to do it, and so eventually I did and now it's finally finished. So it's Hearts and Hooves Day and Cadance is preparing for a night of thrills with Shining Armor, but that all is put at risk when an old nemesis rears her face again. Will Cadance find a way to fight back when she's deprived of her magic or succumb to this attack? (Spoilers: No one dies) It's been a while since I had a more in-depth story like this, or something so dramatic, it was rather fun to have as a change of pacewhen I wasn't constantly struggling to find the words for dialogue.
My Little Pony as a whole is owned by Hasbro.
So close to a mature rating on this. I've come to realize that Cadance, Shining Armor, and Chrysalis are some of the few MLP characters I'm more open to imagining in more adult situations.
My mental image of Chrysalis was strongly inspired by this depiction of her. I don't know if inhibitor rings or similar plot devices are used anywhere else but I probably mostly got the idea from
metal's MLP comic series. And I took the nickname "Cady" from a fic I've been reading. Just to come clean on all the things I'm unoriginal about. :I
Cadance saying that Celestia used magic to alter herself is in reference to Rising Sun and in turn Full Moon. Slowly building up my vast interlocking headcanon of fat ponies.
Chrysalis says "What?" a lot.
