A lot of the 3D work I've been seeing have these great little mount stands that set the model off, kinda like picture frame. It sets them out in their own little slice of reality. And like you say, gives em that little figurine look. :D
There are companies that you can send your files off to and they'll print them in full colour for a fee. I've been tempted, but need to work out just how to prepare these properly for printing. Would LOVE my own printer, but that's a whole lotta money. XD
