If you make your frosting from scratch, it will be runny due to it being warm...
Let the frosting rest a little until it begins to thicken up...and start to cover the cake in layers. After you put a layer on a cake let it set some more in a fridge and pull it out when it has settled onto it. Then add another layer of frosting until you have a very professional looking cake! lol.
