I don't know why, but I really like this sketch. It's pretty fast done, but it was fun :>
Colored Pencils over Copic Marker and Ink on brown paper.
No Pencil underneath, it's right down with ink, which is pretty hard to do for me, but I get used to it.
Done for the CGMA Masterclass Dynamic Sketching.
Also…I love Parrots :)

That's a lovely macaw. They are fun, well, depending on their feather color. that one seems to be blue so they are mischievous, red feathers they are nice and friendly. But o boy, if you have a green one. they are also the smallest of their kind, but they are very aggressive and abusive.
You have a hahns macaw? Interesting! Ive interacted with a few of them and found them to be of very sweet temperament for the most part.
I have found, working with parrots over the years. That while some species can of course come with their diffrences, parrots attitude is very personality based as well very much more so than colour. Ive known extremely aggressive Scarlet and blue and gold macaws, and vice versa. I have found that there has been a higher example of female parrots being more clingy and aggressive towards people other than their one human. But it tends to lean both ways in the end, depending on each birds personality and training :)

I've mostly interacted with them my whole life. My mom always loved them and had several over the years, at some point we had about 5 of them and in my country they are not hard to find them and interact with them, some families I've known also have them as pets. The personality seems consistent. Though maybe training has something to do with it as most people don't train them, they just let them be and we let them be as what they want. We keep them in cages most of the time, but we let them out however the feel safer inside the cages that themselves know how to open and close them, and they just get inside and shutdown their gate on their own.
Scarlet seems to be more friendly and blue macaws, the big ones, are very mischievous and playful. Although all of them are curious, each one of them are possessive with one person, but about all birds or animals have such thing. Even us, humans.

It definitely sounds more like a training/socialisation issue over breed standard to me. Most parrots will display traits that you described when left to their own devices and not associated with or trained by people often (as most animals are ^^).
All that aside though, I think we can both agree that macaws are great!

‘He’s not pining! He’s passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! He’s expired and gone to meet his maker! He’s a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in peace! If you hadn’t nailed him to the perch he’d be pushing up the daisies! His metabolic processes are now history! He’s off the twig! He’s kicked the bucket, he’s shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleeding choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-PARROT―’ OK I probably misinterpreted ‘Parrot Sketch’.
Uh... nice work. Love it.
